Libby Duncan

A Senior Associate in Greenwoods & Herbert Smith Freehills’ Sydney office, Libby has almost 20 years of experience advising on Australian tax. She recently returned to private practice having spent nearly a decade in-house at a global property and infrastructure company headquartered in Australia.

Libby has a deep understanding of the issues facing in-house tax teams particularly as they relate to the property industry. These include the importance of tax risk management, development of tax governance frameworks, group tax policies and tax risk reporting. Since returning to private practice, Libby has harnessed her understanding of in-house corporate environments to build a flexible tax compliance delivery model that addresses the unique needs of individual clients. Clients value her ability to balance tax risk management and value. 

Libby's experience extends to advising on a wide range of transactions including mergers and acquisitions, public-private partnerships, structuring of domestic and international investment funds and capital management. To all her projects, Libby brings a unique understanding of the commercial issues underpinning the advice she provides as well as exceptional project management skills. 

Libby has a Bachelor of Business, Accounting and Taxation from the University of Technology, Sydney. She is qualified as a Chartered Accountant by the Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand.
