Tony Frost

Greenwoods & Herbert Smith Freehills’ Managing Director Tony Frost is renowned for his passionate interest in taxation law, particularly as it relates to financial services transactions.

Before joining Greenwoods in 2003, Tony held senior positions in a global chartered accounting firm and a leading Australian bank. This in-house experience enables Tony to provide his clients with commercially focused advice and insights.

Tony’s career as a tax lawyer and chartered accountant spans more than three decades. During this time he has advised clients on a wide range of financial transactions, Australian Taxation Office audits and disputes, and the tax aspects of mergers, acquisitions and transfer pricing. His career highlights include working on the world’s first simultaneous Advance Pricing Agreement in 1996, which involved cross-border transfer pricing across five countries.

In addition to his regular practice, Tony is a prolific author of tax articles and seminar papers and is regularly invited to speak at industry events and conferences. He also spent 15 years as a lecturer in the Master of Laws program at the University of Sydney.

Tony holds Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws degrees from the University of Sydney. He is a member of the Law Society of NSW, an Associate of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, a Chartered Tax Adviser of The Tax Institute and a member of the International Fiscal Association.
