David Bond

David has more than 28 years of tax experience (including over 16 years as a tax partner) working for a Big 4 accounting firm in Perth, Melbourne and Chicago. He joined Greenwoods & Herbert Smith Freehills in November 2018 as a Director in the Perth office.

David has deep international tax and transfer pricing expertise across a range of transactions and industries. He is an exceptional, client-focussed tax practitioner, who prides himself on developing deep long-term relationships, and in finding practical solutions for his clients' commercial and tax issues.

David has particular expertise in the Energy & Resources Industry, and has advised clients on the Australian tax and transfer pricing implications of a range of domestic and cross border transactions including financing transactions (e.g. financing transactions over US$1b), sales of commodities, sharing of intellectual property, and service arrangements.

David provides tax advice on a range of domestic and international transactions, including issues associated with debt funding, royalties, and tax consolidations. He has assisted clients in managing income tax reviews and audits and providing technical input for tax litigation.

David provides transfer pricing advice to a range of multinational and Australian companies. This includes transfer pricing planning and documentation, and assisting clients in managing transfer pricing reviews and audits. He has also been involved in negotiating unilateral and bilateral Advanced Pricing Agreements with Australian and foreign tax authorities.

David holds Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Jurisprudence, and Bachelor of Laws degrees from the University of Western Australia. David is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand, a Chartered Tax Advisor, and a Registered Tax Agent.
