Chris Colley

A Director in Greenwoods & Herbert Smith Freehills’ Sydney office, Chris advises corporate and government clients on real estate investments and trusts, as well as share buybacks and international financial transactions.

Joining Greenwoods as a graduate in 1997, Chris has spent his entire career with the firm, apart from a brief secondment in New York. He has wide experience in mergers and acquisitions, cross-border leasing, international bond issues, securitisation, real estate development, structured investment products and GST matters.

Chris has been a Director since 2006. A Fellow of The Tax Institute, he is also a member of an Australian Taxation Office working group helping to implement new Taxation of Financial Arrangements provisions. He holds Bachelor of Laws and Commerce degrees from the University of New South Wales, and is admitted as a solicitor in NSW. He also lectures at the University of Sydney, and has written a book about the sale and leaseback of real estate.
