It is with great pleasure that Greenwoods & Herbert Smith Freehills announces the return of Cameron Rider to the Firm as Special Counsel. Cameron is widely regarded as one of the most respected tax professionals in Australia and we at Greenwoods value and welcome the return of his remarkable tax expertise and mentorship.
Over the course of his career, Cameron has worked at top tier law and accountancy firms and was a professor and director of taxation studies in the Law School at University of Melbourne. He was a Director at Greenwoods from February 2012 until December 2014 having previously worked at Shaddick & Spence (with which Greenwoods merged in 2008) in the mid-noughts. Cameron left Greenwoods in 2014 to pursue a practice with a greater focus on tax controversy.
Amongst other areas, Cameron has deep expertise as it relates to mergers & acquisitions across industries, and is acknowledged as an expert in the tax issues facing the Energy & Resources sectors. Our clients and colleagues will benefit from this experience, combined with the unique knowledge and insights Cameron accumulated while focussing on tax controversy.
Cameron returned to our Melbourne office on 6 March.
