Greenwoods & Herbert Smith Freehills is delighted to announce the promotion of Christopher Neil to the position of Director, effective 1 January 2018.
Chris joined Greenwoods in January 2016, having previously worked in global law and accounting firms. At Greenwoods his practice spans a wide range of industries, with a particular focus on infrastructure projects acting for sponsors, investors and financiers, as well as acting for ASX listed companies and property funds.
To the role of Director, Chris brings a wealth of experience advising clients on the tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions, restructures, financing and infrastructure projects. Chris also assists clients with ATO reviews, audits, objections and litigation, including acting for clients in matters before the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, Federal Court and Full Federal Court. He works closely with partners and lawyers in Greenwoods’ affiliated law firm, Herbert Smith Freehills.
Chris is highly regarded for his ability to quickly understand and resolve complex tax issues, and his ability to develop solutions that are commercially workable for his clients. His promotion is testament to not only his expertise, but also his commitment to the firm and the exceptional level of service he provides to our clients.
In addition, Melbourne Associate Nastassia Bondarenko-Edwards has been promoted to Senior Associate from 1 January 2018.
Nastassia has broad expertise in corporate tax including in the context of major infrastructure transactions, tax consolidation and the taxation of employee share and option plans. Nastassia joined Freehills in March 2012 and moved to Greenwoods by September of that year where she has made an extremely positive contribution to our Melbourne office.
